Trescon’s World EV Show gathers India’s major EV stakeholders –

Delhi witnessed the gathering of 200+ attendees that included national and international EV experts, mobility solution providers, and OEMs to discuss business opportunities and government strategies for the Indian electric vehicle ecosystem. Top speakers included Anil Srivastava, Sohinder Gill and Mrs Harkiran Sanjeevi to name a few.

To bolster the burgeoning EV ecosystem of India, Trescon hosted its very first edition of World EV Show in Delhi with the support of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India and Government think tank NITI Aayog this Thursday. Keeping in mind India’s potential to become the next big market for electric vehicle infrastructure, World EV Show gathered India’s leading EV experts, mobility solution providers and OEMs who engaged in thought-provoking keynotes, panel discussions and use cases on India’s Electric Vehicle roadmap. 

WEVS hosted top speakers such as Anil Srivastava, Principal Advisor, NITI Aayog; Sohinder Gill, CEO- Global Business, Hero Eco, Director-General, SMEV (Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles); Shantanu Jaiswal, Head of India Research, BloombergNEF, India; D. G. Salpekar, Chief General Manager, Energy Efficiency Services Limited and Rajeev YSR, Head of Corporate Strategy & Electric Vehicle Business for Gati to name a few.

Discussions centred on topics such as:

·         EV Regulations & Government strategies.

·         Investing in EV technology

·         Localization of EV manufacturing and infrastructure creation: Challenges and Opportunities.

·         B2B adoption of Electric Vehicles – future of responsible business, and more.

While talking about EV Regulations & Government strategies, Mrs Harkiran Sanjeevi, Deputy Director General for NITI Aayog added, “A lot of sporadic initiatives have been taking place in the Indian EV space, however, it needs to be coordinated, which is why role of the state-level nodal agencies becomes very critical to map out charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in India.” 

Vijay Jaiswal, Director – Automotive & Electric Mobility, Government of Telangana, quoted, “Every EV not sold is one Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) sold”

When asked about the major challenges for consumer adoption of electric vehicles, Sohinder Gill noted, “If we, the government and the industry has to make the EV dream happen, the steps that will have to be taken is today!

As Indian automobile manufacturers are starting to nurture the acceptance of going electric by pushing for more investments in e-mobility, the agenda for WEVS encompassed dialogues on innovative business models, battery charging infrastructure and industry analysis from top public and private automotive companies, lithium-ion battery manufacturers and mobility service providers such as Bridgestone, Hero Electric, Gati, Wipro and NTPC among others.
