This Ramleela is the major attraction for the audience this time because Ram and Ravana will be played by a father-son team this time, Puneet Issar Ravana and the son Siddhant Issar Lord Ram making the Ram Leela significantly different from previous iterations. Puneet Issar, a well-known actor, and his actor son Siddhant Issar are the major attraction for the Delhiites this Dushehra.
Actor and BJP MP Manoj Tiwari will play Angad in the Ram Leela, with Puneet Issar as Ravana, Siddhant Issar as Lord Ram, Payal Rohatgi as Shurpanakha, Veer Virendra Singh Ghuman as Hanuman, Pankaj Berry as Vishwamitra, and Kumbhakaran Rajat Rawail in the part of Angad.
Puneet Issar states, “I initially participated in the Ram Leela 5 years ago when I portrayed the character of Ravana at Red Fort, Delhi. Both former president Ram Nath Kovind and honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi were in the audience. Since then, the Ram Leela acting process has been in progress. Corona prevented us from staging RamLeela for the previous two years, but the cycle has already resumed. People have a strong belief in experiencing Ram Leela personally. Every time Ram Leela is performed, more than 50,000 people attend.”
Siddhant Issar, the actor and the son of Puneet Issar said “I first had the chance to portray Lord Ram in the online series 'Ram Aur Vaishnavi,' which was created by Prem Sagar, the late Ramanand Sagar's son, and Shiv Sagar, Shiv's grandson. But this time it is very special for me because I am sharing the stage with my father which is a moment of great pleasure for any son.”
This historic Ramleela is being organized at Nav Shri Manav Dharma Ram Leela Samiti, Derawal Nagar, Model Town, whose Chairman is Akhil Singhal and whose President is Vikesh Sethi. According to the organizers, this RamLeela is 27 years old. But nowadays our youth is more interested in web series other than mythological programs like Ramleela. So they decided to bring famous personalities to attract youth and make them aware of our tradition and culture.
