Mr Shailendra Kumar, Chairman of the TIOL Knowledge Foundation, said that India today stands at the tipping point to commence its odyssey toward a developed country status but economics has to be given  a little more leeway. Economics is required to be given space to choose the direction and politics to play second fiddle. India also needs to overcome many internal contradictions in the society and glaring distortions in its polity. Time for recreational policy-making is also over if India is determined to realise the goal of being a developed country.
