Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) has launched Electronic Services e-Health Assistance and Tele-Consultation (e-Sehat) module on 30 July 2024. e-Sehat Tele-Consultation will enable ECHS beneficiaries to get online tele-consultation for medical treatment from their homes. For this they will not need to visit ECHS polyclinic. The module aims to provide health care services through secure and structured video based clinical consultation.
The pilot project was launched today in 12 ECHS polyclinics, including remote locations like Baramulla, Imphal, Churachandpur, Dimapur and Aizawl. Ahead of its pan-India rollout in November 2024, the 12 ECHS polyclinics conducted tele-consultation with ECHS beneficiary ex-servicemen from remote areas. Major General Manoj Natrajan, Managing Director, Central Organisation Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, observed the inaugural pilot test at Imphal ECHS polyclinic.
This module follows the telemedicine practice guidelines issued in March 2020 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in consultation with NITI Aayog. To ensure seamless implementation and expansion of the project, all 427 ECHS polyclinics have been provided with IT hardware and equipment and staff have been trained to provide online medical advice. Future phases will include home delivery of vital checkups and medicines before consultation and referral to empanelled hospitals by medical officers.
The e-Sehat initiative is in line with the Government of India's Digital India vision, which aims to promote digital inclusion and efficiency in public services. This pioneering effort will transform healthcare delivery for ex-servicemen, ensuring timely and quality medical care at their homes.
