The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the first-ever export of fresh mangoes from Jharkhand to the United Kingdom, marking a significant milestone in the state’s agricultural export journey.

The consignment showcases the growing potential of Jharkhand’s horticulture sector and reflects ongoing efforts to connect local farmers with international markets. The export is expected to enhance the global visibility of mangoes cultivated in the state while creating new income opportunities for growers.

APEDA, in collaboration with state authorities and exporters, provided support in meeting international quality standards, packaging requirements and export protocols to ensure the successful shipment. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote agricultural exports from emerging production regions across India.

The maiden export is anticipated to encourage more farmers in Jharkhand to adopt export-oriented cultivation practices and strengthen the state’s participation in global value chains. It also aligns with the government’s objective of diversifying India’s agricultural export basket and expanding market access for farmers.

Officials said the achievement highlights the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between central and state agencies in boosting exports of high-value agricultural produce and positioning India as a reliable supplier of premium fruits in international markets.
